BENEFIT AND HEALTHY COOKING CONTEST
Career and Technical Education (CTE) culinary students have the opportunity to compete in the 2009 Cooking Up Change. CTE Culinary students will get the opportunity to flaunt their skills and compete against one another to create delicious original recipes as part of a benefit to help improve school lunches.
Students will work in teams with culinary mentors beginning four weeks before the competition to understand the rules of the competition and to receive advice and tips from accomplished chefs to improve their meals. The day of the competition students will get to prepare and present their appetizing recipes to a panel of judges and to guests. The lunches will be judged by a panel of chefs on nutritional value, affordability, originality, presentation and, of course, taste. The winning meal will be served in high schools across the United States. Last year’s winning team was invited to Washington to do a cooking demo on Capitol Hill with President Barack Obama’s personal chef Sam Kass.
If you are a CTE culinary student and would like to participate in this event please speak with the culinary teacher at your school.
