Certifications

Industry-recognized certifications are credentials that you can earn as a way to distinguish yourself as a qualified and competent worker. Earning a certification provides you with an additional ‘piece of paper’ that allows you to:

• Demonstrate your preparation for employment
• Differentiate yourself or your small business from the rest
• Gain recognition for technical competency
• Build credibility with clients and employers
• Increase visibility and enhance your reputation in a competitive marketplace

One way you can earn certifications while in high school is by enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Some of the certifications available include:

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is offered in the Automotive Technology program. Earning ASE certifies that you are highly competent in the areas of Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Brakes, and/or, Suspension and Steering.

CompTIA Network+ certification is offered in the Business Systems Networking and Cisco Networking programs. The certification is a sign of a competent networking professional. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification that proves a technician’s competency in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure.

Pharmacy Technician Certification is offered in all CTE’s Health Science programs. Becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) signifies that you are prepared to effectively work with pharmacists and offer high quality patient care and service.

OSHA 10–hour Construction certification is offered in all CTE Construction programs. Earning this certifies that are trained in the basics of occupational safety and health including fall protection, personal protective & lifesaving equipment usage, and hand & power tools handling.
