Freshman Connection

Are you nervous about high school?
Are you looking for something to do this summer?
Are you interested in getting a head start on high school and getting to know your new classmates and teachers?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Freshman Connection is for you!

Freshman Connection is a free Summer Program for incoming 9th graders who will attend a CPS high school in the fall.

During Freshman Connection you can

  • Make new friends
  • Take field trips
  • Meet your teachers and counselors
  • Learn graduation requirements
  • Prepare for high school classes
  • Explore college and careers

Freshman Connection Participating Schools

Many high schools will be hosting a Freshman Connection program. Most programs start the end of June or the beginning of July. In the case of construction, some programs will take place at alternate locations, which are also noted here.

Freshman Connection Youth Leaders

Each year the Office of College and Career Preparation (OCCP) looks for bright, energetic juniors and seniors to work as Youth Leaders for the Freshman Connection 8th to 9th grade summer transition program. This is an opportunity to help your peers get ready for high school by participating in interactive teambuilding, cultural enrichment and sports activities. It’s also an excellent opportunity to share your success as an upperclassman!
