Health Science Academy

A Health Science Academy is a learning community within a high school that focuses on our medical and health related programs. As individual students, you will focus on one of the programs (kind of like a major in college), but you will also take classes with all academy students and work together occasionally on group projects.

College and Career Academy Application

Round 2 Applications are due April 13, 2012 at 5pm

8th Graders who want to participate in a College and Career Academy, should apply.

Freshmen who are attending a school with a College and Career Academy or CTE stand alone program who wish to participate should speak with their counselor.

Allied Health

As a student in the Allied Health program you will learn the structures and functions of the body, practice taking vital signs and earn CPR and First Aid certification. Taking part in Allied Health will provide you with a strong foundation in the field of healthcare and will allow you the opportunity to earn certifications and internships in various areas such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiology, or Nurse Assisting.

Medical & Health Careers

As a student in a Medical and Health Careers program you will take part in an honors program that prepares you for a variety of careers in the healthcare field. Your studies will give you an overview of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, allied health technology, systems management, optometry and dentistry.

Medical Assistant

As a student in the Medical Assistant program you develop administrative and clinical skills related to the principles of medical assisting. You will get first-hand experience in the field through performing common clerical duties, handling patient/client data files, preparing patients for procedures, performing basic laboratory tests, and carrying out clinical duties such as taking vital signs, sterilizing instruments, preparing patients for procedures, and performing basic laboratory tests.
