High School Exploration

As you prepare for the move from elementary to high school, use the programs in this section to find out more about your new environment and how to succeed in it. Many things will remain the same, but you will also encounter new people, places and expectations. Some experiences will be fun, like making new friends or going to school dances. There will also be increased responsibility to make good decisions, keep track of your grades and academic progress, and manage your time wisely. It may be a challenge to learn how to deal with these new situations, but you don't have to do it alone.

Freshman Connection

Freshman Connection is a free Summer Program for incoming 9th graders who will attend a CPS high school in the fall.

During Freshman Connection you can make new friends, take field trips meet your teachers and counselors learn about graduation requirements, prepare for high school classes, explore college and careers and a whole lot more.

H.S.I. Day happens in May each year.

So you are about to graduate 8th grade and are probably wondering, "What is high school going to be like?" Maybe you are also a little nervous about starting at a new school and not knowing your classmates or teachers or about getting lost on your first day.

High School Orientation

We know the first few days at a new high school can be tough. And we are here to help. High School Orientation gives you a chance to walk the halls of your new school before the first day of class. You will have an opportunity to learn more about your school, visit your classrooms, walk through your class schedules, and much, much more. High school orientations usually take place the week or so before high school begins.
