The Practical Nursing Program is an honors level citywide Health Sciences program for 11th and 12th graders that provides you with the education and training required to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program trains you to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become successful in the nursing field.

As a student in the LPN program you will leave school early to travel to your LPN classes. On days where there is no lecture, you will get hands on training and experience by participating in clinicals at a variety of locations such as hospitals, extended care facilities, and rehabilitation institutes. After your first semester in the LPN program, you are eligible to take the exam that will allow you to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Once you successfully complete the program, you will be eligible to apply for and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become an LPN upon earning your high school diploma.
