CPS Celebrates College & Career Spirit Week!

College & Career Spirit Week

As we work together toward the district’s goal of ensuring that every student graduates from high school prepared to succeed in college and the global economy, CPS has designated May 2nd through the 6th “College & Career Spirit Week” in an attempt to:

  • Recognize and show support for college and career-going seniors
  • Increase awareness of college and career preparation activities/resources recommended for each grade level
  • Celebrate the district’s success in sending more students to college and preparing students for careers

During the week of May 2-6, central office and school staff will be hosting a number of activities aligned with the Office of College & Career Preparation’s push to promote college and career awareness, readiness, access and success. Sample activities being hosted throughout the district include:

  • Celebrating CPS “College Signing Day” on May 2nd by wearing college gear and recognizing seniors’ college acceptances/commitments
  • Distributing flyers and posters with recommended college and career preparation activities by grade level
  • Incorporating discussions of college and career planning into classes, assemblies, etc.
  • Hosting College & Career Lab open houses and What’s Next Illinois training sessions
